WHAT IT IS
Most men don't shut down. They get useful.
You provide. You handle things. You keep moving. And somewhere along the way, the people you love started telling you they don't know what's going on with you, and you realized you weren't sure either.
The Distance is a closed, eight-week online group for men who function well and quietly struggle to stay connected. With the same small group the whole way through, you do the work most men were never taught: feeling it, naming it, and saying it to the people who matter.
This is for you if
01
You look fine on paper and feel a growing distance in your closest relationships.
02
A partner has told you they can't reach you, or that you've gone quiet.
03
When things get hard, you fix, withdraw, or shut down instead of saying what's real.
04
You want to feel connected again, and you're ready to do the work, not just talk about it.
Eight weeks, one arc.
-
Group agreements, what brought you here, and an honest look at what the distance has cost you.
-
Where holding back came from, and why being useful started to feel safer than being known.
-
Building the language for what you actually feel, and catching it before it turns to silence or heat.
-
What sits beneath the anger, the fixing, the pulling away. The needs you learned not to show.
-
Putting words to it with the people who matter, and making a bid for connection instead of managing alone.
-
Handling conflict and discomfort without shutting down, escalating, or walking out.
-
Bringing it home to your partner, your family, your friendships. Practicing the reach.
-
Consolidating the work, naming your ongoing practice, and closing the circle together.

-
Yes. The Distance is a psychotherapy group led by a licensed clinical social worker. It is growth and relational work, not a coaching program or a workshop.
-
Yes. Because this is telehealth provided by a California-licensed clinician, you need to be physically located in California during each session.
-
That's common and completely fine. The first session is built around setting the ground and making the group feel safe before any deeper work begins. The fit call is also a chance to ask anything first.
-
Confidentiality is central. As the facilitator, Jonathan holds it as a licensed clinician, and every member signs an agreement to protect each other's privacy as a condition of joining.
-
We offer flexible pricing for those who qualify. Groups are set at an average rate based on groups in California.
-
That's what the short fit call is for. It goes both ways, and if the group isn't right for you, Jonathan will point you toward something that is.
